Andy Serkis to Play Ceasar Again

Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, The Adventures of Tintin) has signed a seven-figure deal to reprise the role of Caesar for the sequel to the blockbuster hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The director of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist), has also signed on for the sequel, along with screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. No reports have been made on if James Franco (127 Hours, OZ: The Great and Powerful) has signed on.

Fox has also announced that they are going to undertake an “Oscar” campaign for Serkis’ performance as Caesar.
