Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice

MTV News is reporting that Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland) will be participating on some level with the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel. Rumors surrounding a sequel began last September and have steadily grown, especially after Michael Keaton (Batman), who played Beetlejuice in the original, was being sought to reprise his role.

Burton had this to say about the upcoming film: I love that character, and Michael is so great in it. I always think about how great and fun that character was, so I just said to Seth [Grahame-Smith], ‘If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I’ll look at it freshly’… In the past, I tried some things, but that was way back when. He seemed really excited about it.

Seth Grahame-Smith is best known for writing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

A sequel, titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, was originally planned in the early 90s. It is unknown if this is theme is somehow going to be featured in the upcoming sequel.
