The Hobbit First Trailer Released

The first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been released.

After many production challenges, Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey finally looks like it will be making it to theatres. Yesterday, the first trailer was released for the film on the week of the tenth anniversary of the debut of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The film has a huge cast of familiar faces. Most notably Ian McKellen, Elijah WoodOrlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Ian Holm, Hugo Weaving, and Cate Blanchett will be returning. Here is a short synopsis of the film in case you are unfamiliar with the novel:

“The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

The adaptation will be divided into two films. The first of which, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, is set to release Dec 14, 2012. The second film is set to come out a year later. Check out the first trailer below.
