George Lucas Seeks Indiana Jones 5 MacGuffin

Indiana Jones 5 moves forward

George Lucas recently sat down with Vulture to discuss where Indiana Jones 5 stands in the development process.

I mean, I know what it’s about… but I just have to find a MacGuffin that fits into the arena we’re working in, said Lucas.

Earlier in the week, Steven Spielberg, the director of all the previous Indiana Jones’ films, told Entertainment Weekly that both he and Lucas had decided on which genre to set the fifth film in. The last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, took place in the genre of science fiction.

So, it appears that Indiana Jones 5 is moving forward. All it seems to need now is a MacGuffin to drive the story. Hopefully, this time, it will not be a crystal skull, but will instead return Indiana Jones to a more historical basis.
