Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II brings in $476 million internationally in less than 3 days.

As Harry Potter fans around the world congregate to witness the final installment of the popular film series, Deathly Hallows: Part 2, revenue rises at an incredible rate. The midnight showing alone raked in a total of $43.5 million, quickly avadacadabra-ing the previous breadwinner The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which only earned $30 million its opening night. The opening weekend alone earned a staggering $168.55 million, breaking The Dark Knight‘s previous record of $154.8 million.

Polls indicate that the expensive 3D conversion of the film did not really seem to pay off. According to sales analytics, only 43 percent of the revenue this past weekend was earned by 3D ticket sales. This means that more viewers watched the film in 2D, despite the 3D option.
