1. Houston, we’ve got a trailer.

33 seconds of Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises to appear in theatres Friday.

If there isn’t already enough reason to check out the final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, in theatres this Friday, comic book nerds will be pleased to learn that a 33 second long trailer of The Dark Knight Rises is reported to hit theatres next week as well! If you don’t want to venture from your computer, let alone peel another 10 bucks out of your summer budget, however, I’m sure we will have official trailer for you this time next week. Stay tuned for more information!

The low-down for Movie Noobs: The Dark Knight Rises, to be released July 20, 2012, is the third instalment of the Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy. In the film, Batman, played by Christian Bale, will come face to face with Bane, Tom Hardy, and Catwoman, Anne Hathaway. Details of the story arch have not yet been released, but we can look forward to finding out more details in the trailer. It will be interesting to discover Nolan’s treatment of Catwoman. For those who are not comic buffs, Catwoman is a very ambiguous character who has appeared in the DC canon, not only as a prostitute, bank thief, cold-hearted seductress, and villain; but also as a tender lover and brave heroine who aids Batman in his fight against the evil forces of Gotham City.

2. Megatron brings in Mega-Bucks.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon reaches $645 Million in Revenue this week.

Michael Bay’s action film, which cost $195 million to create, has officially become the top grossing domestic film of the year – even passing The Hangover Part II, which has only grossed $250.8 million. For more information about the film, check out our written review.

3. New Footage for LOTR Fans.

Peter Jackson releases a second production video of The Hobbit.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the prequel to the Lord of the Rings series based on Tolkien’s book The Hobbit, follows the life of Bilbo Baggins. In a quest to overturn dragon-warrior Smaug’s leadership over the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, Bilbo, accompanied by thirteen dwarves, ventures across lands infested with Goblins, Orcs, Giant Spiders, Sorcerers, and Shapeshifters at the request of Gandalf the Grey.

Their journey takes them to the wastelands of the Eastern Lonely Mountain where they make their way through the treacherous Goblin tunnels. This is where Bilbo encounters the creature that will forever transform his life: Gollum. Along the shores of an underground lake, Bilbo must harness his inner strength to overcome the strange creature and gain possession of the one precioussss ring that drives the plot of the LOTR trilogy.

The picture below will give you an idea of the wardrobe and makeup used in the film. It features three characters in the picture, Ori, Adam Brown, Nori, Jed Brophy, and Dori, Mark Hadlow. The Hobbit opens in 2D, 3D, and Imax 3D on December 12, 2012.

4. Unisex Sandler.

Columbia Pictures releases Jack and Jill’s trailer.

Directed by Dennis Dugan, “Jack and Jill” follows the life of a successful advertising mogul, Jack Sadelstein, played by Adam Sandler. His beautiful wife Erin, Katie Holmes, and children see a different side of Jack when they visit his identical twin sister Jill, also played by Sandler, for Thanksgiving. Jill’s passive-aggressive demeanour slowly deteriorates Jack’s psyche, allowing the plot to delve into the comedic aspect of the family hardships that often break the surface at annual get-togethers. The film hits theatres just in time for Thanksgiving this fall on November 11th.

Check out the trailer below to, if nothing else, see Sandler in a dress.

5. Meryl Streep renounces acting for Porn.

Now that I’ve got your attention, there is a new trailer for her upcoming film Iron Lady.

Phylida Lloyd’s docu-drama, The Iron Lady, follows the life of the first female British prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, played by Meryl Streep, and her struggle to dissolve gender dichotomies and rise as a strong political force in a male-dominated world. The film explores the complexities of her life and reign as a prominent political figure in British history and is expected to be released in theatres on December 16th, 2011.
