Trailer Release: The Divide

1 Nuclear Accident + 1 Bunker + 9 Survivors..

Xavier Gens’ “Divide” analyzes the post-apocalyptic mind in a violent thriller.

Nine strangers narrowly escape a nuclear event by hiding in a New York high rise apartment’s basement. Treating it as a fall-out shelter, the group stays underground waiting patiently for a response from other survivors. When it becomes clear that they have been waiting in vain, they debate the implications of leaving the shelter and being exposed to radiation. As provisions become scarce, each individual slowly slips into hopelessness and madness. Trapped in close quarters with strangers, tormented by the loss of their families and the uncertainty associated with staying in a shelter, the group begins to violently turn against itself. While the others lose their humanity, one brave survivor strives to escape from the bunker – without knowing what he or she can expect to see beyond the door.
This psychological thriller opens in January and stars Lauren German, Milo Ventimiglia, Courtney B. Vance, Ivan Gonzalez, Michael Eklund, Abbey Thickson, Ashton Holmes and Rosanna Arquette. This film will not only explore the fragility of life in a world where nuclear warfare is possible, but will also provide a harsh critique of group dynamics. How far is one willing to go in order to ensure their survival? Is it natural for people to sacrifice their morality and humanity in the face of impending doom? This film will be sure to analyze the dark impressions that loss, devastation, hopelessness, and despair have on the human psyche.
